Q: What is the Summer Camp program and when is it held? The Fort Greene Sports Summer Day Camp is located at the Brooklyn Free School at 372 Clinton Avenue in beautiful Ft. Greene/Clinton Hill. We offer a fun, healthy summer camp experience for children ages 5 to 13 who love sports. Camp normally begins the first MONDAY after the July 4th weekend, Our sports-oriented camp is held Monday-through-Friday, from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. We have two 4-week sessions.
We
do offer discounts for two or more children registered (Monthly plans
only) We are an independent, membership based nonprofit organization
and do not accept vouchers.
Campers are placed into small groups according to the child-adult ratio NYS guidelines. A certified Red Cross First Aid Responder and a NYS Licensed Lifeguard are on our staff during camp hours.
We get started at 9am sharp, playing basketball or soccer. In the midday heat, we like to cool off indoors playing a number of board games. We can brag about having a high number of returning campers, because WE HAVE FUN!

Q: Tell me more about your Afterschool Program?
As your community resource, Fort Greene Sports must bring attention to you about what's happening in our communities. NEW YORK CITY HAS ISSUED OBESITY WARNINGS! Here is a link to a NYC Dept. of Health and Mental Hygiene (A .pdf will download to your computer) guide on this issue. PEDIATRIC HEALTH
What is especially disturbing is that our schools are making physical education less of a priority, whereas the NY State has been issuing reports stating the increasing incidences of obesity and diabetes, in our children!
What sets us apart from the other programs is our added value, Positive-Choice™! Our at-risk youth are encouraged to use sports to examine the choices they make in life and how those choices will impact their future. The Positive-Choice™ program ties life skills with sports skills teaching young people to associate these fun activities with the skills necessary to be successful.
